Senator Hillary Clinton has been rumored to be selected to the position of Secretary of State for President-elect Barack Obama. The rumors have been swirling around for close to a week, but no formal invitation has been officially announced by Obama just yet, however with all of this speculation, many have thought about what might Sen. Clinton bring to the position or even to Obama’s cabinet. First off, she brings a significant amount of experience, experience that can be accredited to her work while she was First-Lady. Sen. Clinton also brings a great track record coming from her seat in the Senate as she represented New York. Weekend Victory Would Secure Slot in Playoffs

After a long and testing season, it all comes down to just one game to finish up the regular season, as the Cardinals could clinch the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title with a win over Bridgewater on Saturday. “I think we can’t grow complacent with what we have done so far this season,” said senior captain Nick Olivero midseason about what needed to be done to reach the playoffs. “We have to be even hungrier and more focused for the next game if we want to have the type of success that we desire.” The Cardinals drowned Guilford College 49-34 last Saturday. Football: Cards Will Try to Snatch #1 Seed

The men of the football team are not just facing down the Guilford Quakers formidable offense this weekend; they are facing down their own destiny. Hanging on Saturday’s game is a guaranteed seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship. Success means top placement in the tournament, failure leaves their playoff chances in the hands of other teams. Offensive Lineman Steve Prieur puts it this way, “This week is a big game, for the entire program. We just need to focus on this week and not about what has been going on around us. Cardinals Soar to Victory

With upwards of 400 CUA alumni in attendance as part of last Saturday’s Homecoming and Reunions Weekend festivities, the Cardinal football team left the crowd on their feet by delivering an incredible performance. In the first home ODAC conference matchup of their season, the Cardinals celebrated a victory over the Washington and Lee Generals, which ended in a 48-29 win for the home team. The team was led by senior quarterback Keith Ricca and senior defensive-back Nick Olivero. Both had tremendous afternoons, each earning ODAC Player of the Week honors for their efforts and improving the Cards overall record to an intimidating 5-1 (1-1). Cards to Face AU Eagles at Verizon Center Sunday

The hockey squad will hit the ice in a much bigger arena then they usually skate. Following a pre-season match up between the Washington Capitols and the Boston Bruins, the Cards will be playing against the Eagles of American University at the Verizon Center. Puck drop is expected at 7:30 in the evening. This will be the second straight season in which the Cards have played at the Verizon Center and to Senior Assistant Captain Zak McGinniss, there isn’t a more priveldged feeling. “It’s amazing to play on that ice in front of hundreds of CUA students. Cards Setup For Randolf Macon With Huge Win

The Cardinals won their third consecutive game last Saturday as they went head-to-head with non-conference opponent McDaniel College. The entire game was dictated by an explosive offense that managed to rack up 31 points, and a solid defense that held McDaniel to just seven points of their own. Football Picks up Win #2 Over Frank. and Marshall

Football improved to 2-0 on the young season in Saturday’s home opener. The win required a team effort, as the Franklin and Marshall Diplomats presented a strong defense. Senior linebacker David Woo who had seven tackles, three for a loss and a big sack. He was named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week. Junior punter Thomas Breslin had a terrific day with 2 of his 6 punts being inside the 20 yard line, averaging just over forty three yards per punt and a long one of 62. Offense was led by Senior running back Greg Brown who had 125 yards rushing while Senior quaterback Keith Ricca threw for 154 yards and two td’s as the Cards defeated Franklin and Marshall 14-7 for the Diplomats first loss of the season. CUA Lineman Brings Home Football’s First Season Win

The Cardinals kicked off the season in dramatic fashion against Shenandoah University with some unlikely heroes that stepped up when it mattered most. A fake field goal in its first overtime possession gave the Cards (1-0) an edge over Shenandoah (0-1) last Saturday. The offense wasted no time in the first half showing its dominance to the opposing team along with a strong defensive presence. Senior quarterback Keith Ricca connected with fellow classmate Andrew Buis for CUA’s first points on the night from an 18 yard pass. Fellow senior Ryan McManus also scored for the Cardinals on another pass from Ricca, and with a field goal by junior Brendan Deluca, the team found themselves ahead 17-3 by the 11:06 mark of the second quarter. Cross Country Seeks Steady Race

Both the Men and Women’s Cross Country teams start up their season this weekend and look to shock some of the preseason predictions in their second year in the Landmark Conference. In the women’s league, Catholic holds the fourth spot after earning 46 points in the voting, just eight points behind Susquehanna University in a very tight race to begin the season. Juniata College has been picked to repeat atop the conference as selected in the preseason poll. Juniata stacked up 70 points, 11 ahead of the second-place team Moravian College. CUA had three All-Conference performers in 2007, which was enough to help the Cardinals to a third-place conference finish.
